FAQ

Here you see questions occurred in the past. If you don't see your question here, don't hesitate to contact us.

If you are unable to attend your appointment, we ask you to let us know as soon as possible instead of simply not showing up. Please simply reply to the invitation email you received.

Write an e-mail to finanzentscheidungen@econ.uzh.ch to let us know. It is necessary that you use the e-mail address with which you registered so that we can match the entry.

You will receive a payment for your participation in the study. Its level and type depend on the individual sessions of the study. On average, you will earn between 20 and 40 CHF per hour. In some parts of the study there is the possibility of an additional bonus. You will be informed about the exact remuneration in the respective invitation email.

The studies have no diagnostic function and are in particular not intended to make disease diagnoses or comprehensive personality assessments.
Because the data are treated strictly confidentially and only analysed in de-identified form, the results of the study cannot be used to infer the identity of the participants.

Studies in the laboratory (e.g. fMRI) are very expensive. If you cannot participate, please let us know in good time so that we can find another time that works for you. Unexcused absence can lead to exclusion.

When you register for the recruitment system, we ask you to provide some personal information (e.g. gender and age). These data are treated confidentially and used exclusively to invite participants to the respective parts of the study. The data collected in the studies are de-identified and stored separately from the recruitment data.

The collected data will be treated with the utmost confidentiality. The data collected during studies are used for scientific purposes only. A publication of personal data will not take place. You will receive detailed information written in the informed consent at the beginning of each part of the study.

The studies are carried out at the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Basel and at the Department of Economics at the University of Zurich. In some cases, the sessions take place in other locations, e.g. brain data collection will take place in the University Hospital. In the invitation email for the respective study you will receive full information about where the study will take place.

If the number of participants has reached its maximum, you can no longer register for a session.

For fMRI studies, we have to contact you by phone in advance to check the exclusion criteria.
